Ever wonder what it’s like to be a Portland Blazer Dancer? Well, h
ere it is, the Portland Trail Bloggers first ever exclusive interview. Our interview was with Brittany, a Blazer Dancer for the past four seasons, from 2004 to 2008. It’s short, it’s sweet and we owe a big thank you to Brittany.
PTB: How many seasons were you a Blazer Dancer?
Brittany: “Four Seasons 2004-2008″
PTB: What was the hardest part about being a Blazer Dancer?
Brittany: “The hardest thing for me was memorizing all the dances and routines, especially at the beginning of the year when all the routines are new.”
PTB: The Blazer Dancers are always so busy during the games. Did you ever wish you could just sit in the stands and watch the game?
Brittany: “No way! I love to dance and keep busy! I always manage to catch part of the game anyhow- and highlights on the news after the game.”
PTB: What interaction did you have with the team while you were a Blazer Dancer?
Brittany: “The main interaction with the team was during promotional events. While it was rare to interact with the team, I do remember reading to children at “Read to Achieve” and taking turns reading with Theo Ratliff. It was really funny!”
PTB: What game or moment stands out most to you from your time as a Blazer Dancer?
Brittany: ”One memory that stands out is when I came out on the court on a wagon, in Blaze’s Santa bag for a Christmas game. When he opened the bag, I was wearing a bikini and a santa hat! I was so nervous and was just praying that my top would stay on!”
PTB: What was your favorite part about being a Blazer Dancer?
Brittany: “My favorite part about being a BD was spending time with my friends, laughing of course, and performing hot dances on the court!”
