What exactly are the odds of the Portland Trail Blazers winning the 2009 NBA Championship? Well apparently according to Vegas, 35:1. With those odds, we’re the 16th most likely team to win a title this upcoming season. That actually sounds about right if you are in the belief we sneak into the playoffs with the 8th spot in the west.
The ony surprising thing to note is that Vegas seems to think the acquisition of Elton Brand for the Philadelphia 76ers is enough to increase their odds from 40:1 to 20:1, the only team that I consider strange to be ahead of the Blazers. Vegas also seems to like the Lakers over Boston, giving them the best odds with 3:1 despite being embarrassed and swept last year in the Finals by the Celtics.
There are some other funny/notable teams to look at. The Mavericks went from 15:1 to 20:1and the Heat upgraded from whopping 200:1 odds to 60:1.
