Maybe you’re snowed in (again) this afternoon and can’t find anything on the tube, the internets are slow and a snowball fight has lost its luster. Love him or hate him, John Canzano has compiled Brian Wheeler’s calls for all 52 of Roy’s points against Phoenix. If you don’t get the the title, just listen. Wheels is hilarious.
Take this with a grain of salt. This news comes from PE.com via Slam Online. Here’s a quote:
However, Bynum’s performance the first two days of camp wouldn’t bolster his all-star case, according to Coach Phil Jackson, who claimed to be so repulsed that he wouldn’t answer questions about the 20-year-old. When pressed, Jackson said, “I thought Andrew was tired today, so I’m not going to say anything about him.”
Bynum goes on to suggest: ““a little bit of a motivating factor to try to keep me going.”
I wouldn’t be a responsible Blazers blogger if I didn’t rib on the Lakers a bit when given the chance. Is Phil Jackson really disappointed with Andrew Bynum’s performance in the first couple days of training camp? Or is he just joking around in an effort to help Bynum reach his goal of becoming an All-Star this year? Who’s to say? Phil Jackson is one of the more open coaches in the league who isn’t afraid to call out and even feud with his players. As a Blazer fan, I’d like to think it’s the former, but it’s likely the latter.
This is from Rudy Fernandez’s official blog. Of course he speaks Spanish, so the Blog was in Spanish. This is a very loose translation of his blog post from September 28th, but you can get the idea…
“Knowing my New City”
As I suppose that you alredy know, I arrived this past Monday to Portland and the truth is that the reception I had was spectacular. I did not expect it but it made me very happy to see the affection of the people. It was enough beating (?) because after so many hours of my trip, with a change of schedule of 9 hours difference. We went direct from the airport to a press conference where I was with a pile of people. I noticed that everyone in Portland is very excited with the team and in fact the Rose Garden is all sold.
The remainder of the week I have to respond to diverse acts, like a golf tournament where many sponsors and executives of the franchise are, and above all we have been seeing houses to be able to live in. For the time being, my mother Maite, my agent Gerard, and I are in a hotel and all the houses they have shown us are all Desperate Women type mansions. Total, too large for us so we continue seeking… I expect that the next week can relate that you already I am written down (?).
But also I have amused myself and I have known a little my new city of reception. The second night we went by ourselves to have dinner with Sergio Rodriguez to a Spanish restaurant that is called Patanegra and I believe we are going to create a habit of going there… The truth is that is incredible. Besides there are enough Spaniards living here and even we have a Catalonian host, an executive of Nike. A lot of the city has surprised me, is very small and very green and does enough heat although Sergio already has said me that rains 9 to 12 months of the year, the truth is that for the time being I have not seen a drop. This afternoon I begin with the training and I will know my new companions so already I will count you the next week how goes me around here. A greeting for all!
