Hey guys, if the site is running slow for you we already know about it. We’re working on some potential solutions now so please be patient and stay tuned.
We think the site is getting hard from traffic. We’ve noticed the site runs slow on days when we get heavy traffic but we’re not sure if its that or something on our end. So yeah. We’re working on it.
This piece of news comes from the Behind the Blazers Blog:
“The Trail Blazers went through coach Nate McMillan’s infamous conditioning test on Tuesday night, and of the players who participated, only one did not pass the test: Travis Outlaw.
It is the second straight season Outlaw did not pass the test, which requires players to sprint up the court and back five times, on four separate sets, in a designated time. After each set, a player can “bank” time.
McMillan said LaMarcus Aldridge set a team record with 21-seconds to spare, while Martell Webster was second, with 20 seconds to spare. McMillan said Sergio Rodriguez was also impressive, finishing with 17 seconds to spare.”
I’m not going to come out and say this is a big deal but I will say one thing: really? Look, these guys are paid millions of dollars a year to play basketball and to stay in playing shape in the off-season so they’re ready for the next one. But Travis Outlaw can’t manage a few full-court sprints? Running up and down the court is something they have to do…in fact it’s basically all they do during a game.
Again, not a big deal. I just find it partly hard to believe, partly “get your act together” for Travis Outlaw. I have no doubt that he’ll be in shape when the season starts up so this is kind of a non-issue. I just felt like ranting a bit.
This was just posted over on the Blazers Blog from Oregon Live. Enjoy.
Kobe hurt (damaged ligaments) his pinkie finger on his right hand last February. He still has been playing at a very high level and has decided that he will not have surgery because of the long recovery time.
“When the doctors told me recovery from a procedure could be 12 weeks, I just decided now was not the time to have surgery,” Bryant said on the Web site kb24.com. “What it really came down to for me is that I just didn’t want to miss any time ‘punching the clock’ for the Lakers, given all we are trying to accomplish as a team this NBA season.”
Kobe looked great all playoffs and in the Olympics. Doctors have assured Kobe that he is not more susceptible to injury and has decided to live with the pain in the finger.
So, it looks like Kobe will be ready opening night for Portland.
Parts II and III of the Rip City Revival feature about Travis Outlaw are up at Behind the Blazers Beat Blog on Oregon Live.
Part II is titled: “McMillan on Outlaw: If he learns this, ‘There is no way of guarding him.’ The article basically talks about what I mentioned the other day in this post. If Outlaw puts a bit more emphasis on driving the lane instead of settling for jumpers, he would become a force to be reckoned with.
Part III is all about Travis’ dogs. I love dogs.

Can’t get enough of Rudy Fernandez’s dunk over Dwight Howard in the Spain v USA gold medal game?? Here it is again, in super slow motion.

That ball don’t lie.
For those of you may not know, I have an obsession with Rasheed Wallace. He’s the best player in the league and knows that, and thus never has to prove it. It’s true you know. Why else do you think he only averages 12.7 points a game? He could go for 30 a night if he wanted to, but when you have Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince around you, why bother?
Sarcasm aside, Rasheed Wallace has been and probably always will be my favorite Blazer of all time. When Portland fans decided to hate him (for no apparent reason!) and ship him off to the Hawks, I was furious, sad and depressed all at the same time. After leading the Blazers to two consecutive Western Conference Finals appearances, the Blazers just ship him off to fade away into obscurity in Atlanta? How could they! The man was an absolute beast! Thankfully Sheed demanded a trade and went to Detroit to lead them to a championship. Things work out. Ever since then, the Pistons have been my team in the East, and Sheed has remained my favorite player.
So let’s hear it guys, what Blazer player have you absolutely loved but got traded or signed away and you became absolutely furious because of it?
